I had a dream - it was called Rolling Acres Farm.
As a boy, I dreamed of owning a farm and raising cattle. In 1967, Canada's Centenial Year, we purchased our first farm. We assembled a good commercial herd of mixed cattle and utilized good registered bulls of various breeds. Although we had experience with many breeds, none seemed to hold a candle to the Simmental Cattle. We purchased our first set of bred heifers in 1985 and our love of Simmentals has never wavered. We have always liked deep, full-bodied cattle that are easy keeping with strong maternal traits. We have been gradually acquiring the Fleckvieh strain of cattle which we feel best suits our program.
Together with my son, John, and his wife Margo, we now have a select group of cattle with German, Austrian and South African genetics. Bar 5 Expert, the polled South African Full Fleckvieh bull, 2003 high seller at Agribition, bought by Semex, runs with some of our cows. Bar 5 Stride, horned South African, half owned with Semex, will be with our cows soon. We also have shared interest in Grinalta Excel, a polled Romulus son. These 3 bulls are the cornerstones of our program.
Our aim is to produce quality seedstock that make you money as a registered or commercial cattleman.
